Event/Show Promotional Content
Writer, Producer, and Editor
Every year, Radio DePaul's largest annual event is "Rock the Clock," a 48-hour fundraising "radio-thon"event, where all proceeds go towards Ann & Robert H. Lurie's Children Hospital. In preparation for this event, I have had to write, record, edit, and produce about five different aired promotional pieces in the span of a month. In addition, I also supervised and set up all live broadcasting equipment for Radio DePaul's coverage of the event. All our proceeds combined with other student organizations amounted to a total of $97,000 throughout the two-days. While a rather stressful month of preparation, it gave me the skills to manage my time in meeting the strict deadlines, and managing others.
Furthermore, I have also produced an abundance promotional content for Radio DePaul and Radio DePaul Sports for the student broadcasted shows. This required a lot of collaboration with others to understand their goals, aesthetic, and information to be included.
Local Business Advertisements
Writer, Producer, and Editor
Radio DePaul is sponsored by a variety of local businesses to provide food, or money for annual student events. In exchange, and depending on their contribution, I was assigned to create an advertisement for them that is to be aired throughout the entire year. This year, we were sponsored by a total of four different businesses who had requested 30-45 second advertisements, and as the only person responsible for production I wrote, arranged, and edited all four advertisements. This required me to also create the music in addition to ensuring my script included all the information each business wanted. This project required a lot of flexibility, timeliness, and urgency than my other works, and made it a challenge. However, I felt satisfied with bringing exposure to local businesses, and the capabilities of my own work.
Chicago Safety Public Service Announcements
Writer, Producer, and Editor
One of the first projects I worked on earlier this year was to update the public-service announcements on Radio DePaul's library. Generally public-service announcements were for new students to be able to gain a sense of familiarity with Chicago. Since there was a lack of updated safety PSAs for attending class in-person after COVID, I wanted to focus on commuting. So I created two PSAs (60 seconds each) on biking and winter driving in the city. I have also created "spoof PSAs" for student involvement for holiday based events like Halloween. Each sample included within this project was written, produced, arranged, and edited by myself. I also made and curated the music for each one. To me, the most challenging and notable aspect of PSAs was making them appealing and engaging for listeners, and proved to be the most writing intensive project.
